Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly thereafter. Corcoran has participated in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, the largest being a $350,000 investment which covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence was her mother. She was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times too much and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
